You know, the rooms that you choose to live your life in really, really matter. And we're going to talk about why that is today here on 5-Minute Venturing. 5-Minute Venturing Have you ever wanted to have someone in your life who you could ask real questions about your art, your business, and even your walk with the Lord? Well, that's exactly what we do every Friday here on Five Minute Mentoring, where I answer one question from one of my awesome podcast listeners in order to help you start really thriving as the artist you know God created you to be. Hey, my friends, so glad that you are here with me today on 5-Minute Mentoring. You know, somebody told me years ago, Matt, never underestimate the power of the rooms that you're in. And as I began to think about that in my own life, I was really beginning to think about the ministry of Jesus. And I think, gosh, not only were the disciples walking with Jesus every day, it ended, you know, before he went to the cross, it ended in this beautiful upper room that they had the last supper in, where Jesus was able to impart more of who he was and teach them and talk to them and draw them out where relationship was born. And then you think about in the book of Acts, when the Holy Spirit came upon the people that were gathered in that upper room, where the power came down, where they were filled, where they began to speak with other tongues, where they were empowered to do the thing that God had called them to do. The room that you are in matters. Think about even the paralytic that his friends brought him onto the roof and let him down in the room. Can you imagine the power and the power and presence of God that was in that room when Jesus came healed that man and he took up his mat and walked away. Can you imagine the power that was in the room when Mary Magdalene came in and poured that alabaster jar of oil over the feet of Jesus? Wow, the room that you're in matters. You know, as you begin to think about the room that you're living in, you know, I think we all realize that we are the result. We are the fruit of not only what God's pouring into us, not only our mindset, but also everything else that other people are pouring into us as well. You know this, I'm passionate about mentoring artists. I love seeing artists start thriving in everything that God's got for them. Spirit, soul, body, finances, art, everything. And one of the things that I've seen that happens over and over and over again is when artists begin to gather with other artists in the room, in the same room, at the same time, moving in the same direction, guess what? Transformation happens in a huge, huge, huge way. You know, I'm always seeking out ways to be mentored myself and be in the room with other people who are further along than me. You know, that's actually one of the commitments I made in my life. Listen, if I'm the smartest person in the room, I'm in the wrong room. If you're the smartest person in your room, you're in the wrong room, friend. You need to change rooms. Because why? Because the people that you spend time around help to elevate and help to inspire what you see is possible. They help to give you strength and encouragement when things get tough in your life. And you know, I just, I want you to really understand this concept of the room because if you continue to stay in the same room around the same people doing the same thing that you've always done in your life, you're going to get the same results or worse. That's just how it happens. Or, you can change rooms.
