418 | 5-Minute Mentoring: How Saying No Moves Us Closer To God
When you’re stressed, overwhelmed, or struggling to find the time for what God has called you to do, there’s one little word that can help you a lot:
No.
Being able to say no to things that are adding to your overwhelm, or are stumbling blocks in the way of God’s plan for you, is a very powerful tool to have in your tool chest. Unfortunately, it can be hard for many of us to actually pull out that tool and use it when the time comes.
But if you can learn to say no to the things that are not bringing you closer to God's design and assignment for you in the Kingdom, you will be empowered and open to say yes to the things that are.
In this episode of 5-Minute Mentoring, I give you some ideas of things that you may need to say no to in order to move closer to the path God wants you on. Check it out.

God created you to be. Hey my friend, so glad that you're with me today here on 5-Minute Mentoring. You know, over the years, one of the biggest struggles that I've seen artists have in their life is this issue of overwhelm. So many opportunities, so many good things that come into their life that they just can't choose. I often tell people, you know, you don't have a time management issue, you have a boundaries issue, you have a vision issue, because when you understand your who it is that God's created you to be and what he's called you to do in the season of life that you're in, it becomes a lot easier to say yes to the right things and no to the wrong things in your life. You know, a lot of times we think as people, you know, if I could just have the right opportunities come my way, then I could experience success. But you know, I've actually found the opposite to be true. Let me explain. I really believe that the success of your journey is determined by the things that you say no to in your life. And although that may seem really like, well, that doesn't seem like it makes sense at all. What saying no does is it creates space in your life for the things that really matter. If your life is filled with opportunities that may be good, but really don't have anything to do with who God's called you to be and what he's called you to do in the season of life you're in, then all you're doing is crowding your mental space. You're wasting your resources. You're overtaxing everything in your life. And you don't have the bandwidth to be able to step into the things that God brings your way. much less even recognize them when they come on the screen. So listen, my friend, if you're going to do one thing this year, as we're starting this year together in this first quarter, I want to encourage you use that muscle that says no. Begin to be comfortable with saying no to things that don't align with who you are and what God's called you to do in the season of life you're in. One of the things that that may include is things that have been really great for you in the past, but don't fit now. And listen, that's completely okay. That may be a relationship. That may be a volunteer opportunity. It may be a job. It may be a part-time or full-time job. It may be a way that you've been marketing yourself or your work. Whatever it is, sit down with the Lord and take inventory of the things that are for right now. And then everything else, say no to. What that's going to do is give you a real feeling of empowerment in your life as you step purposefully toward the things that God has for you in your life and you create space to be able to receive the good things that he has for you this year. I love you, my friend. I hope till next time you remember you were created to thrive. Bye.
