414 | 5-Minute Mentoring: How Artists Can Advance The Kingdom Of God
What does it mean to advance the Kingdom of God?
We all more-or-less have an idea of the Kingdom of God as a goal to strive for and a guiding principle for living. But it can be tough to define the specifics of how we can achieve that goal and what we can do as individuals to tilt the world in that direction.
In this episode of 5-Minute Mentoring, I want to dive into this tricky subject and provide you with an easy, five-part framework you can use in your life. I call it God's I-D-E-A-L, and it will help you understand your identity in Christ, embrace your unique design, and expand in that identity and design to advance the Kingdom.

Have you ever wondered what it means to advance the kingdom of God in your own life? Well, we're going to talk about that today here on 5-Minute Mentoring. Have you ever wanted to have someone in your life who you could ask real questions about your art, your business, and even your walk with the Lord? Well, that's exactly what we do every Friday here on 5-Minute Mentoring, where I answer one question from one of my awesome podcast listeners in order to help you start really thriving as the artist you know God created you to be. Well, hey, my friends, so glad you're with me on another episode of 5-Minute Mentoring. You know, I hear a lot of people talking about their desire to advance the kingdom of God and see the rulership and reign of Jesus all over the earth. But yeah, when it comes to the practicality of how do I do it, they don't really understand that, much less as an artist and actually seeing God use your life in ways that you really feel advance his kingdom. You know, we've done other episodes I want to dig into a concept that I've been sharing lately that really seems to help people understand how to move forward in everything that God's got for you in the kingdom. I call it God's I-D-E-A-L. The power of God, the nature of God, and the transformative power of God in and through our lives so that when other people encounter us, encounter our work, encounter the things that we're about in life, they get a picture of who God is and what this kingdom reality is all about. I don't know about you, but that is super exciting for me. That's not an abstract term that, you know, we're not supposed to be able to get our hands around. There is a really easy methodology, I call it ideal, that I believe lines up really clearly with God's word that allows us to get into a place of connection with him so that we can begin to advance the kingdom of God. So if we take this word ideal really quickly, I-D-E-A-L, the first thing is I, which is identity. That's all about who does God say that you are. If you're starting from any other place that is believing lies, believing things based on your experience, based on trauma or woundedness, based on comparison with others, you're setting yourself up for failure and you'll never be able to advance the kingdom of God in a really authentic way. You'll be trying to get those spirit-led results with striving and with trying to do things in your own strength and that never works out well. So once you are established in your identity Knowing who you are in Christ, knowing what you can do, what God has given you, what you have access to, what's possible for you in your life, what he says about you as a person. Then you start to embrace number two, which is D, design. This is a beautiful thing about the kingdom of God is that each one of us can be a part of advancing it, and yet each one of us brings a different and unique part. One of the things that I found most interesting I don't know. Difficult, I think, for a lot of artists to really embrace is that the thing that has made them unique, the thing that has maybe set them apart, made them feel a little weird, the thing that maybe caused them not to feel like they fit, it's sometimes difficult to realize that, hey, that thing is probably a big key into understanding the unique flavor that God wants to flow in and through your life. And so when you start with a healthy place of identity and then you begin to embrace your unique design, you can begin to really feel that sense of momentum and fulfillment in your life. Thirdly, then E in ideal, all right, so I-D-E, E is this idea of expansion and As you begin to walk in that place of identity, embrace your unique design. You're faithful with what God's given you. Guess what? God gives you an assignment. There's a thing. There's things that you're supposed to be doing that God wants you to be after in your life. As you're faithful with little, he makes you a ruler over much. Just like Esther, he sets you in a place for such a time as this for influence and for impact. And so As you're faithful to be who God's called you to be and do what God's called you to do, he is the one that brings the promotion. He's the one that brings the expansion. He's the one that brings the acceleration. And that can either be slowed down or sped up by number next, which is A, and that's all about alignment. See, we're designed to be in alignment with God. with others. God brings us into alignment with others, the right people at the right place at the right time with the right resources. Listen, all of the relationships that you need, all the divine appointments, all the ideas, all the financing, all of that, all the understanding is already been given unto you. And God releases those things to us by revelation of the Holy Spirit as we're what? As we're aligned with him and operating in faith, all right? That is seeing and agreeing with heaven so that we can begin to see heaven move to earth, all right, in and through our lives. But it happens as we are in alignment with him. Again, if you're off trying to do your own thing or you're believing things that are not true about God or not true about yourself or, you know, sowing things into your life that are based on woundedness and fear and experience and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, all the other stuff, then guess what? Those seeds are going to produce a harvest of things that you don't necessarily want to see in your life. But as you align with God's word, with his presence, you can then walk in alignment with the resources and relationships and opportunities and ideas and all the other things that you need to advance the kingdom of God and do the thing that he's called you to do. And then the last part, L, is what I would call love. Love is the thing in the I find that if your love motivation is off, it usually is not due to a lack of trying or a lack of wanting. Usually that is because somebody is dealing or operating from an identity that's not healthy. It's one that's been based in performance or trying to make people love them because they do this or that rather than a place of love. And listen, when you can do the thing that God's called you to do in a place of intimacy with him and true love for him, you're going to be motivated then by compassion and passion to serve your fellow man, to get into the community, to get into the world, into the marketplace and do the thing that God has called you to do. Not necessarily to make a name for yourself, not to build your own kingdom, but to see the kingdom of God come through your life. Listen, I believe as you really pursue those ideals, identity, design, expansion, alignment, and love. As you begin to move toward those, the kingdom of God gets advanced through your life. My friend, I believe that the kingdom of God is a lot more simple than churches made it. I believe that it's a lot more accessible than we believed, and I hope that these five signposts today will help you start advancing the kingdom of God in your life, whatever that looks like. I love you, my friend. Thanks for being with me. Until next time, remember, you You were created to thrive. Bye.
